Floodwaters on a rampage: torrential rain in Quebec leaves chaos in its wake

Torrential rains hit Quebec's Saguenay region on Jul 19, 1996, causing heavy flooding and mud slides. Ten people were killed, including two children, and damages could run as high as $450 million. It was the worst natural disaster to hit Quebec ever. Relief efforts helped minimize the suffering.
