For Pataki and Bloomberg, The Rift Is Becoming Visible
Article Abstract:
The positive, working relationship between New York Gov. George Pataki and NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg faces a serious rift resulting from the decision by a little known panel appointed by the governor to dissolve a five-year, $2.5 billion economic assistance plan for the city. This follows the unsettling conflict over a Bronx water filtration plant and other divisive issues that were building to hurt the political ties between the two leaders. The loss of the $2.5 billion could jeopardize more city services and threaten Bloomberg's plan to restore some tax cuts.
