Rubalcaba made his US debut May 14, 1993, at the Lincoln Center, New York, NY. The late jazz musician Dizzy Gillespie was a fan of Rubalcaba's and tried to bring him to the US in 1989, but failed because of the US embargo against Cuba. Rubalcaba's records are available in the US.
