Fidelity parent names president

Article Abstract:

FMR, which owns mutual-fund firm Fidelity Investments, has appointed a new president named James Curvey after having left the position unoccupied since 1986. Curvey was named chief operating officer in May 1997 as FMR tried to bolster its ailing public image, fund manager piracy, and dull performance. Curvey also formerly lead the venture-capital unit Fidelity Capital. Fidelity has started to focus on investment management after it left other businesses. Curvey's appointment has resulted in gains for the company.
