The life of Ponzi the confidence man is recounted from his petty pilfering in his native Italy through his embezzlements in Canada, to his multimillion dollar postal reply scam, to his work in Brazil for Mussolini's fascist government. He died in Brazil in 1949, at age 66, essentially penniless.
