The global-warming issue has reached a point where it can no longer be ignored, with the economic implications of China's rapid industrialization being a major contributing factor to the sense of urgency. Pollution is 12 times the world average per unit of gross domestic product, reveals China's Environmental Protection Agency, and the health costs, mostly paid in terms of life quality and age expectancy, are huge and growing.
