Group of Seven urges Japan to do more to ensure global growth

Article Abstract:

Japan is being pressured by the other members of the Group of Seven, a grouping of the seven richest nations in the world, to do more to help ensure the growth of the world economy. The US, the fiercest critic of Japan in the group and its biggest export market, has cautioned the country on relying too much on its export to get out of its current recession. The US is worried that this path will lead to an unsustainable trade deficit.

Texas drillers enjoy high oil prices, for now

Article Abstract:

The oil and gas industry in Texas is booming due to high and increasing fuel prices. Oil well drillers are facing a shortage of workers while well-service trucks are operating at full capacity serving newly opened wells. The industry's reaction to the high economic activity, however, has been tempered by its bitter experiences in the boom and bust cycles of the 1980s and 1990s when many enterpreneurs and companies went bankrupt.

Oil prices spike back up; pump prices may follow

Article Abstract:

The price of benchmark light sweet crude oil rose to $31.94 per barrel, a development that could reverse a two-month fall in gasoline prices. The price increase was attributed to concerns on low US oil inventories and a perception that the OPEC intends to maintain current price levels. The Energy Information Administration, however, reported that gasoline prices have been falling despite rising oil prices.
