The recent changes made in the superannuation regulations, in the federal budget are discussed and the positive and negative aspects of the bill are highlighted. The main winners picked by the Australian government are the wealthy and their biggest gain flows from the abolition of reasonable benefit limit (RBL) rules that cap the contribution amount to super. The abolition of RBL, the tax on lump sum and pension payouts from age 60 will deliver little practical benefit to many.
