High-resolution X-ray computed tomography of an Early Cretaceous gekkonomorph (Squamata) from Oosh (Ovorkhangai; Mongolia)

Article Abstract:

Various high-resolution X-ray computed tomography scans (CT scans) are used to study a gecko-like squamate from the Early Cretaceous of Mongolia and also to incorporate it in a phylogenetic analysis of several squamate taxa scored for various morphological characters. The results have proved to be a great help in the study of gekkonomorphs, though the mechanisms responsible for the transition from the plesiomorphic skull roof of basal gekkenomorphs to modern gekkotan condition cannot be estimated from it.
