Home is where the job is
Article Abstract:
Australians have been successful in finding work in the high-technology industry outside of Australia. The project leader for Microsoft's Window 2000 program is Australian Iain McDonald, who lives in Seattle, WA. The vice president of international for Yahoo! is Australian Heather Killen, who lives in California's Silicon Valley. Australians are valued for the work they can do and are not prejudiced against in the American work environment because of their apparent ethnic neutrality. Also, the high-technology industry generally values individual job performance more than any cultural characteristic in their employees.
