Many Australian consumers are turning to the Internet to purchase Christmas gifts, groceries, and appliances. Many of these consumers lack the time to shop, and the high-tech industry is making sure their needs are met. The Australian Direct Marketing Association (ADMA) in Nov 1998 introduced a draft code of practice to give consumers peace of mind. It will allow people to register if they do not want direct mail or phone calls.

These improvements began when QR invested $35 mil in a new train, reduced the workforce, and spent $60 mil to upgrade its centers.
