Diabetes is an epidemic in the U.S., and someone dies every three minutes from resulting complications. Any adult who is obese, has a family history of diabetes, or belongs to certain ethnic groups should be tested regularly. Adult-onset diabetes can be usually be controlled with diet and exercise.
