Canceled flights on record pace

Flight cancellation of the 10 largest US carriers is on track to set a five-year high at 3.1% for the first nine months of 1999. This figure compares with 2.7% canceled flights in 1998. The number of flight cancellations totaled 128,768 from Jan 1999 to Sep 1999, almost 8,400 flights higher compared to Jan 1998 through Sep 1998. Records from the Department of Transportation also showed that the number of cancelled flights more than doubled at American Airlines and US Airways.

Kiosks cue up DVDs for fliers
Article Abstract:
InMotion Pictures, based in Jacksonville, FL, operates kiosks that rents digital video disc (DVD) movie titles and portable players to passengers in four US airports. Passengers who opt to watch a movie while waiting for a flight or during a flight can pay $10 a day for each rented movie, plus a laptop-size player and a headset. The kiosks have a selection of around 170 titles and are also offering the DVDs for sale.
