A new 3-year pact between General Motors of Canada Ltd and the Canadian Autoworkers Union ended a 3-week strike that had interrupted work in Canada, Mexico, and the US. Both sides compromised on the issue of capacity reduction. Jobs will be lost, but not as many as GM had planned to cut.
