Investors Group to acquire firm
Article Abstract:
London Life Insurance Co. will sell its mutual fund division to Investors Group Inc., which is 67.4% owned by Power Corp. of Montreal in Quebec, Canada. Although the acquisition will proceed with the exchange of an undisclosed amount of cash, it is expected to provide an additional C$750 million in assets under Investors' corporate umbrella, and consequently expand its sales workforce by 100%. Upon securing regulatory approval for the deal, Investors Group will get the fud unit of London Life, and operate the business under a new subsidiary called Maxxum Fund Management Inc.
