Is 'presumed consent' the best policy for increasing voluntary organ donation?
Article Abstract:
Some people looking to increase the availability of organs for transplantation are lobbying for a presumed consent law that would assume that all dead people wanted to donate their organs unless they expressly stated otherwise. Opponents of the idea claim that presumed consent would do away with the role of the surviving family members in such decisions, and would offend various cultural sensibilities.
