A case is presented where a black man is accused of assaulting a police officer in Washington, D.C. The man, Christopher Smith, said he was merely protecting a friend. In spite of being tried in what he called 'the white man's system,' Smith was found not guilty.

Canadian Ambassador Derek Burney states that Mexico, not the US and Canada, is pushing for the ratification of the North American Free Trade Agreement. The US Congress is not receptive to the NAFTA, and ratification is unlikely in 1992.
