Port in a storm
Article Abstract:
This article examines the failure to conserve various historic buildings, structures, and sites in Australia, particularly the Wash Bay finger wharves in Sydney Harbour. Relevant points include the loss of the Walsh Bay, the last intact wharf ensemble of its kind in the world, due to neglect by custodians, destruction by private sector developers, and plundering by local governments desperate for cash.
