Cross-cultural influences are evident in the food, fashions and popular culture of Asian and Western countries. The trade seems balanced on the surface, but close analysis finds more Western effects on Asia than vice-versa. Western countries fear Asian competition and emigration, and Asian countries blamed Western speculation for their economic crisis.
