Magna negotiating to buy three more U.S. racetracks

Auto parts maker Magna International Inc has announced that its MI Venture Inc unit is negotiating to acquire three more racetracks. Among the racetracks to be acquired are DeBartolo Racing Corp's Thistledown in Cleveland, OH; and Remington Park in Oklahama City, OK. Magna International disclosed its plans in a prospectus for an issue of junior debenture to boost its depleted cash reserves following its transfer of $250 million in cash to MI Venture.

Rejected bid gives Yogen Fruz investors the chills

Ice cream maker Eskimo Pie Corp of Richmond, VA, has rejected the takeover bid by Yogen Fruz World-Wide Inc of Markham, Ontario. Frozen yogurt franchsor Yogen Fruz has offered a $10.25-per-share bid for Eskimo Pie in Nov 1998, and later increased its bid to $13 per share. Eskimo Pie officials said that both bids were insufficient. Yogen Fruz said it is still continuing talks with Eskimo Pie for potential joint strategic ventures.
