At age 68, Sonny Rollins has reemerged as the preeminent tenor saxophonist in jazz. He reminisces about his long career, including his 1950s collaborations with Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis, and John Coltrane. Rollins's place in jazz history, and his current work, are also analyzed.

A Radcliffe College professor is often exasperated when her female undergraduate students complain that they are oppressed because they are women or they are of color. Sometimes it is the duty of a teacher to dispel untruths and provide perspective.
