NTSB recommends review of jet wiring
Article Abstract:
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has recommended that a broad review be conducted of the wiring in all US-certified aircraft because problems uncovered on the ill-fated Trans World Airlines Flight 800 have been found on other jets. The NTSB made the recommendation on Aug 23, 2000, in its final day of hearing into what caused Flight 800 to explode and crash. The agency also found that the fuel tank design of the Boeing 747 is fundamentally flawed.

FAA working to improve program
Article Abstract:
Nick Lacey, Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) director of flight safety, said that the agency is working to improve its maintenance inspection program, called Air Transport Oversight System. The FAA inspection system is again being criticized after it failed to detect many of the problems with Alaska Airlines Inc's maintenance program, which has been blamed for the crash of one of its airpline in Jan 31, 2000.
