Notebook prices dip toward $1,000

Prices of notebook computers are steadily declining toward the C$1,000 level, a development that will turn the elite business tool into a consumer product. The average wholesale price of a notebook computer has gone down from C$3,760 in 1997 to C$3,070 in 1998 and is expected to further decline to C$2,300 in 1999, said analyst Dave Armitage of Toronto, Ontario-based Evans Research Corp.
