The '100 Best Novels of the 20th Century' list was compiled by the editorial board of The Modern Library. When the list was released, there was immediate controversy over which books were put in, where they ranked, and which books were left out. Suggested additions to the list are discussed.

The bears who help (more) kids to read

Stan and Jan Berenstain have written more than 100 books in the 'Berenstain Bears' series and plan to expand to longer books to entice readers from ages seven to ten. The couple says they have gotten requests for longer books from children who grew up with the series.
