Ontario contains 103 of the 301 federal Parliamentary seats, and is the site of a fierce battle among the Reform, Conservative, and Liberal Party over several seats won by Liberals by scant margins in 1993. Six key seats that may indicate trends are profiled. Liberals may lose up to 12 seats in all.

The May 1996 World Figure Skating Championships at Alberta's Edmonton Coliseum was probably the best-attended and perhaps the most enthusiastic. Although Canadian Elvis Stojko did not win a metal due to an unfortunate slip in his short program, his long program was nearly perfect.
