Pokemon poised to stomp Elmo, Furby

The growing popularity of Pokemon is raking in millions of dollars for Nintendo of America Inc, which has the licensing rights to the Japanese video game outside Asia. The total global sales of licensed Pokemon products such as board and video games, trading cards, puzzles and apparel will reach $6 billion in 1999. Although the production of Pokemon products has been increased 20 times, they have still failed to keep up with the demand.

Radar-aided cruise control could lead to safer roads
Article Abstract:
Automotive cruise-control systems have advanced to the point wherein they can apply the brave or increase the engine's power depending on the motion of the vehicle ahead. Top-of-the-line cars such as the Mercedes-Benz S- Class sedans and CL coupes now feature intelligent cruise control which use radar. The use of radar in cruise control could result in the development of collision-warning and crash-avoidance systems in cars.

Burger King bets big on Pokemon

Burger King Corp is counting on the popularity of Pokemon with children when it launches its latest promotion linked with the pocket monsters. Everyday, a different Pokemon toy and a trading card will be given away for every purchase of a kids meal. The promotion, which will be rolled out to coincide with the release of 'Pokemon: The First Movie,' will last until the end of 1999.
