Radio plus billboards equals ad powerhouse

The US's largest billboard firm, Outdoor Systems Inc, will be acquired by Infinity Broadcasting Corp in a stock and debt deal worth $8.3 billion. Infinity's acquisition will enable it to increase its competitiveness against Clear Channel Communications. Infinity and Clear Channel have been increasing their billboard holdings because of the increasing expenditures spent on outdoor advertising and the effectivity of combining outdoor and radio advertising in marketing.

Aetna gets OK on acquisition
Article Abstract:
The proposal by insurance giant Aetna to acquire Prudential Healthcare for $1 billion has been approved by antitrust regulators. However, the Justice Dept ordered Aetna to sell its recently acquired NYLCare health plans in Dallas and Houston because the acquisition would result in Aetna having a market share of up to 63% these areas. Aetna could get about 6 million new members with its purchase of Prudential.

Wal-Mart bids for British chain
Article Abstract:
Wal-Mart Stores, the world's biggest retailer, has launched a $10.8 billion takeover bid for the Asda Group, the third-biggest supermarket chain in the UK. The deal, equivalent to $3.54 per share in cash, is Wal- Mart's biggest foreign acquisition to date. The Bentonville, AR-based company said the acquisition will give it a significant foothold in the UK market and broaden its access to European markets.
