Risks of global deflation rising

Industrialized countries are experiencing deflation, inflation rates below 1%, for the first time since the 1920s. Most economists consider the phenomenon benign. Others see similarities in the deflation statistics of the 1990s and those of the 1920s that preceded the Depression. Germany's high labor costs render it vulnerable to market downturns.
