Yogen Fruz revenue doubles

Yogen Fruz World-Wide Inc., a frozen yogurt stores franchisor based in Markham, Ontario, posted C$12.9 million, or 33 cents per share, in profit for fiscal year ended Aug. 31, 1998, up more than 100% from C$10.3 million, or 32 cents per share, in profit in fiscal 1997. Likewise, the company's revenue rose from C$43.8 million in fiscal 1997 to C$90 million in fiscal 1998. The company partly attributed the gain in its revenue to its March 1998 merger with Ronkonkoma, NY-based Integrated Brands Inc., which accounted for 43% of Yogen Fruz's revenue in fiscal 1998.

Large companies that have annual sales of more than C$75 million showed betters returns than medium- and small-sized companies in 1997. Large businesses in the non-financial sector posted an average return of pretax profits on total assets of 7.2%. Medium sized companies, with annual sales of C$5 million-$75 million, earned a return of 4.3%, while small firms with sales of at least C$50,000 showed a 4.6% return.
