Baby boomers are taking to the garden, but they are seeking instant results. Seeds and bulb sales are down, while instant color potted plants are the rage. Cash-rich time-poor baby boomers have time to enjoy the fruits of their labor as long as somebody else will do it. Other areas are growing with the interest such as gardening services and magazine and television gardening shows.

The Australian federal government's replacement of the Commonwealth Employment Service was met with reluctance, but it is apparent it may succeed. Many social groups such as the media, welfare system advocates, and employment companies criticized the program, but new reports suggest it is working and an improvement on the old system.
