Should a liberal arts education primarily entail the study of Western civilization?
Article Abstract:
Some argue that a liberal arts education should primarily entail the study of Western civilization, but there are educators who oppose that point of view. On one hand, students have a right to see and understand how the knowledge, insights and contribution of Western civilization, not those of any other civilization, have benefited billions of people. On the other hand, the question is not whether to deal with diversity and multiculturalism in college curricula, but how to do it and strengthen democratic commitments.

National public radio comes of age
Article Abstract:
National Public Radio has come a long way from its humble beginnings as a small youth-oriented radio. In the 1990s, the radio station network is known for its extensive news reporting and cultural programming being aired to about 9.8 million listeners weekly. It is financially supported by corporations and philanthropic organizations. It has, however, attracted controversy because of its alleged inordinate airing of liberalist opinion. Itscritics come mainly from conservative politicians.

In search of liberal bias
Article Abstract:
Washington's Center for Media and Public Affairs has come up with the results of a study that indicates whether public television broadcasting unduly favors liberalist viewpoints. Station WETA served as the object of research with more than 35,000parts of programs dealing with political ideas being evaluated. The results confirmed the supposed liberal bias. Those who disagree with the results have labeled the analysis as faulty.
