Should drugs be legalized?
Article Abstract:
Proponents of the controlled legalization of prohibited substances in the US cite the failure of alcohol prohibition in the 1930s as a rationale for their arguments. The increased costs on law enforcement agencies and the judicial system greatly outweighed the positive costs of prohibition. Those opposed to controlled legalization argue that the continued denial of these substances to certain segmnets of the population would still create a demand for their covert use.

Janet Reno's war on drugs
Article Abstract:
US attorney general Janet Reno promised that one of the main thrusts of her office would be solving the problem of controlled substances proliferation and use in the US. One of the programs adopted under the administration of Reno was to provide first time drug users with an alternative to jail terms. Under the new program, first time offenders of non-violent drug violations will be required to undergo drug treatment instead of serving jail sentences.
