Do virginity pledges reduce STD risks?
Article Abstract:
The first study of the sexual behavior of virginity pledges found that the adolescents waited 18 months longer than non-pledgers to have their first sexual intercourse, had fewer sexual partners and married earlier. However as per Columbia University sociology Professor Peter Bearman's survey pledgers were less likely to use condoms the first time they had intercourse, and were less likely to have ever been tested for an sexually transmitted disease (STD) or to have seen a doctor over worry about an STD.

Should the Department of Health and Human Services adopt the Ryan Commission's recommendations?
Article Abstract:
Disagreement exists on whether the Dept of Health and Human Services should follow the proposals of the Commission on Research Integrity. The commission defined research misconduct and suggested procedures of investigation. Critics note the commission's proposals differ markedly from the 1989 recommendations of the Committee on Science, Engineering and Public Policy. The 1989 definition of misconduct is cited as more precise, as it is limited to plagiarism, falsification and fabrication.
