The Australian women's hockey team could be ranked among the greatest teams in the country if it wins another gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. The Hockeyroos have won each of their past six major tournaments in 1998, including the Atlanta Olympics, two World Cups, and three Champions Trophies. The world's most outstanding player is Australian forward Alyson Anna.

The sport will receive a major image boost with the Sydney Camel Cup, an inaugural race to be held on Aug 23, 1998.
