Japanese investors in the 1990s have experienced a decade of lost hopes and dreams. Many investors who enjoyed economic prosperity in the 1980s have lost their homes, employment, and savings. Many Japanese consumers believe the economy is getting worse, and they are trying to save instead of spend. Corporate restructuring is difficult in the government-protected Japanese economy.
