The 17-day war
Article Abstract:
Royal Canadian Army troops were dispatched in 1941 at the request of the UK government to reinforce the garrison at Hong Kong. The Japanese attacked Hong Kong on Dec 8, 1941 and the defenders held out for 17 days. Survivors of the attack spent almost four years in Japanese labor camps.
