Stock brokers in Australia are facing in 1999 the same market forces that have impacted other industries. Economic competition among brokerage firms is increasing, clients are demanding more services, and stock brokers must acquire a number of skills to be competitive. Ten out of 80 firms control 80% of the market, and the remaining 70 firms must battle for their market share.
