Economic indicators for Canada have been highly volatile in 1995 and some question their worth as a tool in economic forecasting. Gross domestic product figures to not take into account the growth of technology and service industries. Economists suggest a new figure, the genuine progress indicator.

The end of the cold war would suggest better economic interrelationships but in practice the leadership that is necessary to implement a successful program is lacking. More countries are divided by nationalistic tendencies than joined for economic prosperity.
