Although psychoanalysis has been criticized ever since Freud's first theories were introduced, there are variations of this school of thought still thriving today. Many of the new psychoanalysts, however, believe that Freud was not necessarily right about everything, but he got quite a lot of it right, and psychoanalysis is subsequently still an effective form of therapy for mental illness.
