Listeria testing set for hogt dogs, cold cuts
Article Abstract:
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) is expected to announce a new set of regulations that will require cold cut producers to develop plans for controlling the listeria microbe. While the new regulations are not expected to include listeria testing, the USDA will have the authority to order the closure of a plant which is not in compliance. In 1998, Sara Lee was forced to recall hot dogs and cold cuts after a listeria outbreak caused the death of 21 people.

Volvo recalls V70 wagons after tailpipe burned boy
Article Abstract:
Volvo is planning to carry out a recall of its V70 station wagons that have the third row of seats facing the rear. The car maker is recalling the wagons because of faulty tailpipes that can potentially burn youngsters when they get out of the car. Three children have already been seriously burned as a result of the tailpipe. The recall is Volvo's first ever to involve children. It can also hurt the company's family car image.
