Fare go for Strait-crossers
Article Abstract:
Lobbyist Peter Brohier has a plan to subsidize travel between Victoria and Tasmania to energize the island's struggling economy. Under the scheme, which would cost taxpayers $15 mil per year, the government would pay most of the cost of ferry travel across the Bass Strait. Passengers would be able to take their cars across the Strait for only $30 to $40 each way.
