AT&T taps Bernard for consumer post

AT and T Corp, the leading long-distance and cable company in the US, has appointed Betsy Bernard as president and CEO of its struggling consumer services unit. The unit has more than 60 million customers and around $18.9 billion in annual revenue, but suffers from shrinking growth and long-distance price wards. Bernard, who was previously an executive of Qwest Communications, is optimistic because long-distance customers are poential buyers of dial-up and high-speed Internet services.

Sprint's good name changed bidding game
Article Abstract:
The value of Sprint Corp's name is making it difficult for branding experts to formulate the best way of marketing the resulting company from the merger of Sprint and MCI WorldCom. Since Sprint is widely recognized for its top-quality service, many experts believe that its name should be retained. Other brand experts think that the MCI monicker, although known mainly for cost advantages, will be the most logical choice in the long run.
