Unlicensed to swill
Article Abstract:
In Australia, the practice of patrons' bringing a bottle of wine to restaurants, called BYO restaurants, is disappearing. Most such restaurants, which originated in Australia, are getting their own liquor licences. After 50 years, in Victoria in 1966 the law changed and the compulsory 6 o'clock closing of pubs ended. Various interesting customs and products developed during the time of the BYO establishments. There are some licensed places that also allow patrons to bring their own and have a corkage fee.
