When energy prices go up, some businesses turn off
Article Abstract:
The rise in electricity prices in California has resulted in a trend among consumers. Big electricity users have come to decide for themselves when to buy power based on its price. Real-time pricing involves cutting back on use when demand and prices are soaring. An example is Georgia Power which lets large customers track prices and cut use based on price. Customers not only save money but also reduce the risks of power shortages. A growing number of regulators, energy analysts and executives have begun pushing the idea as a potential cure for California's power crisis and to encourage conservation nationwide.
