Textbook activism
Article Abstract:
The tactics utilized by right-wing textbook censorship activists Mel and Norma Galber in the 1960s revolutionized the manner in which progressive textbooks were censored. Activities conducted by the Gablers influenced the upsurge of Christian fundamentalist protest against publications deemed morally and politically incorrect. Publications such as Brave New World, Crime and Punishment, A Farewell to Arms, Les Miserables, Of Human Bondage, and Sister Carrie were criticized.

Reagan-era rulings
Article Abstract:
Incidents of censorship of school textbooks increased during the administration of former US Pres Ronald Reagan. Christian fundamentalists and the like were quick to capitalize on the era's right wing slant by initiating attacks on textbooks deemed morally incorrect. Right-wing parents initiated lawsuits designed to prevent the teaching of certain books like The Wizard of Oz, Goldilocks, Cinderella, and The Diary of Anne Frank to their children.
