Australian investors in the U.S. and European international funds did exceptionally well in 1998. Global diversification offers Australians the opportunity to invest in industries and companies not available locally, such as pharmaceuticals and technology. It also exposes people to high growth regions, such as Southeast Asia, or more recently Europe. However, investors should never underestimate the value of currency.
