Good pill hunting: antioxidants can reduce your risk of disease...but can they also slow down the aging process?
Article Abstract:
Antioxidant inhibitors, found in fresh fruits and vegetables, help to destroy free radicals contained in oxygen. The radicals are atoms with intact electrons that destroy healthy cells in the brain and heart. Vitamins can provide supplementary nutrition for diets that lack an adequate amount of fruits and vegetables. The key supplements should include carotenoids, pycnogenol, vitamin C and E. Antioxidants, however, do not hinder the aging process.
