The Dow Jones Average in 1983 hovered around 1220 compared to 9000 in 1998. The stockmarket's unprecedented performance is indicative of the returns equity investors have enjoyed. Trends such as demographics, increasing globalization, emerging markets, the end of welfare state, and technology will determine the future of markets and individual companies.

Fund managers' results are hardly super
Article Abstract:
A review of performance of super fund managers during the last decade - to Oct 1996, shows their funds underperformed cash. A further look reveals that fund managers are not good at choosing winners from all main asset classes. Maybe this is not surprising since the Superannuation Industry Act does not require special expertise.
