All change at A/AS level
Article Abstract:
The new principles and code of practice and the nationally agreed subject core will be incorporated into A and AS level geography curricula. School boards need to provide clear assessment goals and content statements and to abide by national guidelines on areas such as syllabus construction and conduct of coursework. They have also integrated into their curricula the need for the study of a theme which emphasizes the interaction between people and their environment at a range of scales, a chosen physical environment and a chosen human environment.

Killarney National Park
Article Abstract:
Killarney National Park provides an example of sustainable tourism in a sensitive ecosystem. Irish law prevents national park land from being utilized for housing, agriculture or raising livestock. When conflict rises between land development and conservation concerns, the latter gets the higher priority. Tourism is a mainstay of the local economy. By maintaining the park's natural resources, the region assures its continued income.

People: a neglected resource?
Article Abstract:
Both geography teachers and students should remember that local people, particularly seniors, can be an invaluable resource in collecting data. Peoples' memories can add specific details to resources such as maps and help to document changes to local geography. An example of an older person, consulted during research on the Gwyder Forest, is included.
