The future eaters
Article Abstract:
Australia's first inhabitants were the world's first group to over-exploit their environmental resources, according to science writer Tim Flannery. The title of his book, 'The Future Eaters,' refers to the way aborigines exhausted their immediate environment and depended on future resources, like most modern people. The aborigines eliminated 95% of Australia's large mammals about 20,000 years ago, long before the most recent ice age.
